A region built upon a traditional manufacturing infrastructure, the North West has one of the largest clusters of medical & health technology companies anywhere in the UK, with a population of more than 7 million people, it has 73 hospitals (39 acute Trusts) and 11 Universities (8 of which have a medical faculty) with internationally renowned specialist centres of excellence in genetics, cardiology, oncology, orthopaedics, immunology, minimally invasive surgery, biomaterials, biotechnology and tissue engineering.
The region has important communication and transport links with all other parts of the UK and boasts an enviable trading postion at home and overseas.
